The Worst Games of 2025, Based on Aggregate Scores

Across the internet, enthusiasts are eagerly sharing their rankings of the top titles of 2025. Yet, where are the stinkers, the low achievers? It's time to take a few moments to honor the lowest-rated games of the year, as determined by the aggregate scores from Metacritic. Could each of these games truly as terrible as the reviews suggest? We shall see.

10. Switch 2's Welcome Tour

Aggregate Score: 54/100, User Score: 3.4/10

The early response to this showcase title were shaped by its $9.99 price tag, with many feeling cheesed off it wasn't a bundled game like some other console launches. Critical opinion was quite mixed, from scathing critiques to somewhat forgiving appraisals that noted the delightful software itself. In spite of the debate, the title proved to be a notable seller during its launch month.

9. Rennsport

Metascore: 53/100, Audience Score: 3.2/10

Billed as "not just a racing game," this driving sim from studios in Germany and Poland was met with largely negative reviews. Critics noted that the game fell short in key areas, particularly in a year packed with excellent racing experiences. In the eyes of critics, this sputtering stinker was advised to be left unplayed.

8. The Purrfect Bubsy Collection

Aggregate Score: 53/100, Audience Score: 8.6/10

To begin with: the irritating punctuation is a notable point of contention. This compilation of SNES and PS1 mascot platformers revives a rude feline known for incessant jokes. The consensus was that these games haven't aged well to begin with and haven't gotten better with age. The improbably high user score remains a peculiar anomaly to the Metascore.

7. Hunter x Hunter Fighting Game

Aggregate Score: 53, Audience Score: 3.5

This *Hunter x Hunter* fighter was met with widespread disappointment from both reviewers and players. Complaints centered on a small roster of characters and a severe lack of features. User reviews was especially negative, with some stating a hope that the title's flop would have consequences for future projects.

6. Neptunia Motorcycle Game

Metascore: 51, Audience Score: 5.3

Based on the quirky Hyperdimension Neptunia series, this motorcycle action game tasks players with gathering cute monsters. The assessment was that its attempt to channel a unique gameplay loop didn't land, coming across as more of a low-effort product than a meaningful addition to the franchise. Its brief runtime combined with a premium price raised eyebrows.

5. Captain Blood

Metascore: 50, User Score: 5.3

This title is a resurrected relic from the Xbox era, finally released after a very long time in development hell. The developers opted to preserve the game as an original product of its time, accepting that contemporary players might criticize its old-school mechanics. As such, many reviews noted that the interesting history of its development was more interesting than the actual gameplay.

4. Salvation

Aggregate Score: 44, Audience Score: 2.4

This anime-art action game modeled after games like *Returnal* disappointed with critics. The main issues included bland enemy design, monotonous stage design, and a unengaging plot. A much-criticized system involving the character's attire was universally disliked and undermined the game's overall experience.

3. Paramedic Simulator

Metascore: 44, User Score: 4.9

Imagine the strategic medical sims of the past, then remove the compelling story. That, according to reviews, is roughly *Ambulance Life*. Players found the core gameplay loop to be tedious and repetitive, and the narrative's handling of mental health topics was criticized as being tone-deaf. The overall experience was deemed largely unsatisfying.

2. Tamagotchi Plaza

Aggregate Score: 43, User Score: 5.8

This new direction for the classic virtual pet formula transforms the franchise into a minigame collection title. The result, according to critics, was a unsatisfying assortment of repetitive tasks that very soon overstayed its welcome. Some reviews went so far as to declare it one of the most disappointing titles available on its platform, noting a profound lack of depth.

1. MindsEye

Metascore: 37, User Score: 2.5

Positioned as a major crime saga from a ex-Rockstar veteran's industry veterans, *MindsEye* was a spectacular critical flop. Reviews heavily criticized its lousy combat, uninspired storytelling, and a host of horrendous bugs. Many found it to be a downgrade compared to previous-generation games in the similar style. Among the scathing reviews, a small handful of optimistic players found something to enjoy in the experience, serving as a lonely contrast.
